Equality Maine happenings

ETA: (Sorry, am an idiot - I meant to add a bit to say that in fact I'm not Darlene Huntress, nor do I have any official connection to Equality Maine. I'm just on their email list and figured they might like wider distribution for this one.)

It's summer in Maine, so I know you have plenty on your calendar - but please don't forget to RSVP to EqualityMaine's upcoming Community Conversations on Equality in Bangor and Portland.
  • Bangor Community Conversation on Equality: Thurs. 7/17, 6pm
  • Portland Community Conversation on Equality: Mon. 7/21, 6pm
RSVP today for details, directions and location information.

As you know, a petition against LGBT rights in Maine was recently dropped for lack of interest. At the same time, our primary day volunteers reached thousands of fair-minded voters who pledged to stand with us in support of equality.

It's clear: in Maine and across the nation, a tremendous shift is taking place. Finally, LGBT advocates and our allies have the momentum we need to make the final push toward full equality.

So we're not going to sit back and wait for the next attack to come - as we know it will. Instead, we're going to seize this opportunity to expand our base of support and become pro-active in our work. EqualityMaine has big plans for the rest of 2008, and this is your chance to learn more, share your thoughts and ideas and find out how you can get involved.

Join us! Email me now to RSVP for the Community Conversation nearest you.

I know these conversations will be exciting and thought-provoking, so I hope you'll be able to add your voice. Questions? Email me at dhuntress@equalitymaine.org.

I'm looking forward to seeing you very soon!
Darlene Huntress
Public Policy Director

ps. Have friends or family members who might be interested in joining our Community Conversations? Forward this email and invite them to RSVP today.
